Alissa Klots is Associate Professor of Soviet history at the European University at Saint Petersburg. She holds a candidate of science degree from Perm State University (Russia) and a PhD from Rutgers University (USA). Her academic interests include Soviet history, gender history and history of aging. She is currently working on turning her PhD dissertation “The Kitchen Maid That Will Rule The State: Domestic Service and the Soviet Revolutionary Project, 1917-1941” into a book manuscript. She is also an associated academic fellow at the Center for Comparative History and Political Studies at Perm State University (Russia). There she is collaborating with Maria Romashova on a project on aging under socialism.
