Volodymyr Potulnytskyi ist Historiker und Politologe und arbeitet in Kyjiw an der Ukrainischen Akademie der Wissenschaften am Institut für Archäographie und Quellenkunde. Sein Spezialgebiet ist die Geschichte des politischen Denkens in der Ukraine, worüber er in internationalen und auch deutschen Fachzeitschriften publiziert hat. Sein letztes Buch befasst sich mit der Historiographie Omeljan Pritsaks, des nordamerikanisch-ukrainischen Mediävisten und Universalgelehrten, dem wir eine monumentale Globalgeschichte der Kyjiwer Rus’ verdanken, “The Origins of Rus’”. Zwischen 1990 und 2003 arbeitete er als Gastforscher und -professor unter Anderem an den Universitäten in Harvard, Wien, Köln, Hokkaido, Jerusalem, Lviv und Leipzig, am Institut für Mittel- und Osteuropa der Tschechischen Akademie der Wissenschaften in Prag, am Institut für Osteuropakunde der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften in Wien, sowie am Herder-Institut für historische Ostmitteleuropaforschung in Marburg.
Volodymyr Potulnytskyi is Professor and Leading Research Fellow at the Institute of Ukrainian Archaeography and Source Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv. He specializes in Ukrainian and Global historical and political thought. He is the author of Деміург. Історіософія Омеляна Пріцака (Demiurge. In the time span from 1990 to 2023 he was working as guest researcher and guest professor at Harvard, Charles, Vienna, Cologne, Hokkaido, Jerusalem, Lviv, Leipzig Universities, at the Institute of Central and Eastern Europe of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague, the Institute of East European Studies of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Wien, the Herder Institute for Historical Studies of Central and Eastern Europe in Marburg.
